Every Song’s Story: The Soulinterviews Journey
At SoulInterviews, we believe that every song tells a story, every album takes us on a journey, and every artist’s path is a rich tapestry of life. These stories, filled with experiences, joys, pains, triumphs, and disappointments, create the soundtrack of our lives. But how do these artists sing our song? How do they understand us, unseen strangers, so clearly and undeniably? This is the magic and mystery of music—a natural sorcery that illuminates our shared humanity. This is the power of honest music.
Our mission at SoulInterviews is to explore and unpack the stories, power, and creative journeys of these incredible artists who bring us the gift of music. We strive to understand these artists as intimately and respectfully as they seem to understand us, through every heartfelt melody and soul-stirring line. We’re not interested in the gossip or innuendo that often surrounds fame. Instead, we’re captivated by the truth behind the bass lines that pulse through our veins and the melodies that weave through our days. Our conversations are built on trust, mutual respect, and a shared wonder at music’s transformative power.
DJ “Souly” Soulswede, a connoisseur, advocate, music historian, and journalist withalmost four decades in the industry, is the visionary behind SoulInterviews. His dedication to bringing the “soul” back into soul music has made SoulInterviews one of the most respected platforms in Europe. With each in-depth dialogue, we spotlight the soul stars who do it best, keeping fellow aficionados informed about the latest and greatest, while sharing the artists’ stories in their own words.
From legends of major labels to independent trailblazers, from progressive futurists to rootsy traditionalists, SoulInterviews engages all with equal enthusiasm, humor, and heart. Our platform isn’t just a place to listen—it’s a space to connect. We provide a global stage for the musicians of R&B, soul, funk, jazz, and soulful house to share their most confessional moments. More than that, SoulInterviews is a bridge between people, connecting fans with the artists whose inspirations make life a song worth singing.
After over ten years of interviews, Souly took a much-needed break from SoulInterviews.com. “Man, interviewing takes up a lotta time, and I felt like my motivation was starting to fade,” he admits. Personal and professional changes made the process overwhelming. But after a six-year hiatus, Souly realized something was missing. The love for soul music, the curiosity about the people behind the music, and the creative process of producing interviews and radio shows called him back. Now, with a fresh perspective and under the new banner of www.soulineffect.com, Souly returns with renewed passion and creative freedom.
“This new site gives me more creative freedom than before,” says Souly. “I’ve always had an unconditional love for ‘late night radio,’ like Quiet Storm. Under the name ‘Soulswede Music,’ I can now produce both interviews and Quiet Storm radio under one roof.” And yes, DJ Soulswede (aka Souly) is actually named “Soulswede” for real!
So, come on in, make yourself comfortable, and join us on this journey. We’ve been waiting for you.
