SoulinEffect: A Journey Through Soul, Resilience, and Renewal
At SoulinEffect, we celebrate the power of music to connect, heal, and inspire. Every song carries a story, every melody stirs emotions, and every artist’s journey reflects the universal truths of our shared humanity. These stories—woven from joy, heartbreak, triumph, and loss—create the soundtrack of our lives. But how do artists so deeply capture what we feel, often without knowing us? This is the magic of music—a force that transcends boundaries, offering solace, inspiration, and connection.
This vision has always been at the heart of SoulinEffect and its founder, DJ “Souly” Soulswede. A music historian, journalist, and advocate with nearly four decades in the industry, Souly’s work has always been about honoring the voices and stories of soul music. His platform began in 2008 as SoulInterviews.com, a pioneering space for intimate artist conversations, where legends and independent artists alike shared their creative journeys.
But Souly’s path hasn’t been without challenges. After over a decade of groundbreaking interviews and podcasts, he stepped away in search of clarity and healing. The past few years brought deeply personal struggles: the loss of both parents within a year, the closure of his company due to economic hardship, and the overwhelming stress of moving to a new home, starting a new job, and rebuilding his life. “Music is life,” Souly reflects, “and I want to feel it deep in my soul. It can’t become a chore or an obligation.”
The weight of these challenges caused Souly to question his creative direction. What began as a spark of passion for soul music and storytelling felt like it was slipping away. But in time, the pull of music—its magic, its healing power, its ability to connect people—brought him back. After a six-year hiatus, Souly has returned with renewed purpose and a fresh platform: SoulinEffect.com.
“SoulinEffect gives me more creative freedom than I’ve ever had,” Souly says. This new chapter combines his love for soulful storytelling with his long-held dream of producing Quiet Storm radio, the late-night, slow-groove format that has always resonated with him. Under the name SoulinEffect.com, Souly now has the space to create interviews, radio shows, and more, all with a focus on authenticity and emotional connection.
The name SoulinEffect reflects this evolution: it’s about “putting soul music into effect” while also capturing the calm, laid-back essence of Quiet Storm. Joined by longtime collaborator Bonnie Cehovet, Souly envisions the platform as a space for both discovery and reflection—offering intimate interviews, curated Quiet Storm content, and even the occasional unexpected feature. Some content will be in English, some in Swedish, and all rooted in a deep respect for music’s ability to heal and inspire.
This new beginning is deeply personal for Souly. “Losing my parents and navigating so many changes at once forced me to reevaluate everything,” he admits. “But through it all, I realized that music has always been my anchor. It’s where I go to feel alive, to connect with others, and to find peace.”
SoulinEffect is more than a platform—it’s a reflection of resilience, love, and the unbreakable bond between music and life. From heartfelt interviews with soul legends to the soothing rhythms of Quiet Storm, SoulinEffect invites you to join this journey of rediscovery and connection.
Welcome to SoulinEffect. We’ve been waiting for you.
