Hi Friends,
As some of you may have noticed, there’s been a bit of back and forth on the site since the relaunch of Soulinterviews.com. Shortly after, it became Quiet Storm Sweden, and then Soulswede Music, which is the name of my company. And now SoulinEffect.com.
The last two years have been tough for me personally. Both my mom and dad passed away within a year, and I was forced to close the company I started due to the struggling economy and the housing market. All of this has, of course, taken a heavy toll on me, and my podcast has had to take a back seat as a result. I’ve also felt a bit uncertain about what direction I should take. I started my first podcast back in 2005, and Soulinterviews was founded in 2008. I realized early on that podcasting is an excellent format, particularly for interviews. After about 10 years, I chose to take a break because I felt like I had lost the spark. Music is life, and I want to feel it deep in my soul. It can’t become a chore or an obligation. When I then relaunched my podcast, my dad passed away shortly thereafter. On top of that, my wife and I moved, bought a new house, and I started a new job. As you can imagine, it was a lot to handle.
I felt that I didn’t want to limit myself to just doing interviews. A lot has changed since Soulinterviews was founded, and we became pioneers in the field. Today, there are countless podcasts focused on interviews, as well as video formats on YouTube. I’ve always had a love for Quiet Storm (late night radio) and I felt that was something I also wanted to explore. Hence the initial name changes. With Soulinterviews, I was limiting my own freedom, and Soulswede Music became a step toward a more open platform for soul and RnB.
Now, my longtime partner at Soulinterviews, Ms. Bonnie Cehovet, and I have decided that the new format will be called SoulinEffect, and the website address is SoulinEffect.com. The idea behind the name is to ‘put soul music into effect,’ while ‘ineffect’ (ineffective) could also convey the opposite—something calm and laid-back, like Quiet Storm.
We hope that you’ll like the new name and website, and that we’ll be able to offer both audio and video interviews, as well as Quiet Storm content. Maybe some of it will be in English, some in Swedish, and perhaps even a video interview with someone completely outside the music industry. Time will tell for those who visit us.
We wish you all a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thank you for being here, and please take care of someone special today.
Respectfully
